Privacy, in plain language

Qibla.now is designed so that almost nothing about you leaves your device. Here is exactly what happens — and doesn't.

Calculated on your device

Your Qibla direction and prayer times are computed entirely in your browser using the open-source adhan-js library. They are never sent to any server.

What stays on your device

  • Your prayer tracker (which prayers you marked, streaks)
  • Your tasbih counts and lifetime totals
  • All settings: calculation method, madhab, Hijri offset, language, notifications
  • Your most recent location, so we don't have to ask again

Stored only in your browser's local storage. No cookies, no server writes.

What leaves your device

  • Weather: an approximate coordinate (rounded to about 1 km) is sent to Open-Meteo. No account, no API key, no ads.
  • Map tiles: map tiles for your area are fetched from CARTO / OpenStreetMap only if you open the map. Never on the home screen.
  • Anonymous usage stats: Google Analytics receives anonymous event counts (page views, feature usage) with Google Signals and ad personalisation turned off. It never receives your location or worship data. You can turn it off below.

What we never do

  • No accounts, no sign-up, no email address collected
  • No ads inside the app
  • No selling or sharing of your data
  • No location stored on our servers — we don't have servers that store user data

Anonymous usage analytics

Anonymous counts of features used. Never your location or worship data. You can turn this off anytime.
